Future! Week 10

Just by typing "Future of the Internet" on Google I was able to see so many predictions coming from so many experts. Just by reading all these articles it makes me excited, nervous and a bit worried at the same time. Although some of the predictions seem, way off, I was still not able to ignore those articles considering how fast our internet developed in the recent years. Who would have ever expected Facebook, Google, Twitter and all these websites during the early day? Even for now everything could come from out finger tips and the Internet just made life so much easier. Some good aspects might be that people are more connected, life became more efficient and entertaining (in a way). Anyways, getting back to the topic some of the predictions that really caught my eyes was from an article written from Business Insiders.

Firstly, within five years, Eric Schmidt who is the chairman of Google predicted that everyone would be able to gain access to the Internet. Moreover, even objects like the washing machine and other households would also be able to function like the Internet. As of for me if Google and these huge companies come together and spend billions of dollars in making this possible this might actually be possible. Secondly, jumping to the prediction of 10 years was the part that actually made me worried a bit as well. David Hughes predicted that the Internet would be able to create its own digital nation. In other words, people with similar interest groups will come together and form their own huge boundaries. Although it seems like this is already happening it makes me worried that countries might be starting to lose their culture. The worldview of the individual would be the center point and the traditional culture that a certain country had might be getting destroyed.

Thinking about what kinds of impact the Internet would do to us is actually quite infinite. Who would be able to say that those predictions would be impossible when they saw what we have already accomplished?

Virtual Reality? Reality????

Last week in class we learned about virtual reality and how it has now become a growing market. However, I would like to focus on something that is a bit more specific, which is the hologram show. A hologram is basically a recording of the light field and using that to create a completely three-dimensional model. Normally we would usually record imaged forms through lenses, however, using this hologram technology people were really able to create something new. Just by reading what hologram is about you should be certain that it is much harder to create holographic material compared to the traditional forms. In order to record every action, we will have to use lasers in order to illuminate them and prevent the causing of creating clashes between the light.

Just like in the picture above there are certain ways we could set up these lasers and just by doing some quick research I realized it was very complex than I thought. However, these days people are using hologram for entertainment purposes and also education purposes. As of for entertainment purposes, we would all know about how Michael Jackson came back to life through the hologram. Michael Jackson is considered one of the most well-known cases for the hologram. Moreover, through Michael Jackson a lot of people were able to hear about the existence of hologram. Not only did Michael Jackson used it but a whole bunch of K pop and Japanese singers and animations used holograms. At first when I saw the video of Japanese animation character dancing and singing by using hologram I was horrified and I wondered who would actually go there and watch them. Nevertheless, just like how I have mentioned hologram is growing rapidly.

HACKING!!!!!

For this week our class learned about the basic idea of hacking. After the class ended I realized that hacking is something that could also be my story. Although I think I did not experience getting hacked myself (or did I?) I am actually paranoid that someone could obtain my information so easily. Even through my quick research if a pro hacker targets me specifically it would not even take them a day to suck out every single information about me. Out of all the websites that I am using, I was quite worried about my Facebook account. I use Facebook on a daily basis and just by swiping through my Facebook page even a stranger would immediately realize what I am interested in and my unique life.

In order to find out about Facebook hacking myself, I just did a quick research on Google. However, just by typing "Facebook hacking" on Google I was quite shocked at how easy it was to hack someone's account. There were so many websites that popped up that titled "easiest ways to hack facebook accounts" and there were also videos that kindly presented how to hack. Some ways that I have learned was Phishing, which was one of the most challenging ways but the most popular way of hacking. People create a fake login page in other words we are cloning the entire Facebook page. Another way would be tracking the cookie of the victim's computer. If we are using the same Wifi network as our victim then we would be able to exactly clone the cookie, which contains the information on the hard drive. In this method, we won't need to know the victim's password since by cloning the cookie, Facebook would think that the authentication was verified.

Video

For this week I was assigned to post videos of what I have edited! The first video that I will be sharing with you is a 5minute awareness video about the Comfort Women (sex slave) that were forced to become sex slaves for Japanese soldiers during Japanese colonization. This video is to encourage for the Japanese government to apologize and acknowledge their disgusting evil behaviors from the past. The second video is a 1minute dance video that I have created and edited when I was in high school. Both videos were edited through adobe premiere, which includes various kinds of editing tools! I hope you enjoy! Thank you!

E-Learning!

In Korea E-Learning is a very active form of learning and in particularly language institutions are very active in this field. I would like to talk about an institution called Pagoda!! Pagoda started off like many other institutions with teaching students in a traditional form. However, as technology developed they were one of the first institutions to use e-learning. In order for this to become a success, they lowered the price of e-learning tremendously compared to the traditional way of teaching face-to-face. Although they still teach in the traditional way many people are choosing to learn through e-learning.

The reason behind why so many people prefer e-learning over the traditional would be because it is much cheaper. They could learn the same content with cheaper money. Moreover, people could refer to the video anytime they want, which is a huge advantage to the traditional form. Since institutions would not even allow students to record what the teacher is saying. Students don't have to trouble themselves to go all the way to the institution.

Talking about Pagoda again we could see that they used these advantages to the fullest. Pagoda was very passionate about advertising their e-learning even using acquiring a famous teacher from foreign countries to teach. They also made sure that the teachers were all good looking so that students would be interested in learning. This might be the only negative aspect about e-learning, however, in overall, I really do think that this is a brilliant idea.
