I predict that most of the people would be writing about Amazon and those famous websites that are already huge. However, I would like to particularly focus on a Korean company called Coupang that focuses on e-commerce. Firstly, e-commerce is basically a platform for buying and selling through an online platform. Obviously, Coupang has relatively a short history compared to other companies that were involved with e-commerce. However, Coupang was able to grow at an extremely fast speed. Despite the fact that there are numerous amount of other websites that provides e-commerce they took another approach. Firstly, they made sure that people are able to get the products as fast as possible. Coupang advertised that they would deliver the items the fastest, calling themselves Rocket Coupang.
This was appealing to the Korean customers and to the culture itself since people in Korea loves things to be fast. Rather for people to wait they made sure that their customers receive the products fast. Secondly, they made most of the products much cheaper compared to other companies, which also intrigued the people to find Coupang more often than any other websites. Moreover, through strict security, they made sure to prevent internet scams. This is important since trust is one of the most important factors within the company.
For the past one week, our class focused on the role of social management companies in the online world. Our group specifically studied upon a company called Social Flow which, simply helps companies intensify their effects on advertising. I would argue that as people are throwing out more information about themselves on the internet this is one of the most interesting and innovative ways to catch the eyes of the people.
Explaining the main objective of social flow, it is to study the trends and study how to make the advertisement more appealing to the audience. They also study what type of target audience certain companies should be aiming for. Social Flow observes keywords and interests that were mentioned often in social media. However, the most interesting part of Social Flow is that they even observe the time frame and location those words were mentioned. This helps Social Flow advice companies when to post their advertisements and more specifically to whom they would send the message out to.
Just like how this graph shows Social Flow is able to crack down details that we never even imagined it was possible. Now companies exactly know how to use their advertisements effectively without wondering how to represent their company. I honestly, think the amount of information certain companies have about us scares me. However, there are so many benefits that follow. Although the feeling of getting violated is unwashable we still are able to be kept updated with our interest!!!
The company that compelled me the most was the YG Entertainment in South Korea. As an entertainment that produces musicians and actors, it is essential for the company to be active in social media. Through social media companies are able to advertise their artists and albums. Thus, the YG entertainment puts a lot of effort to maintain a positive image to the media users. For example, when YG wants to advertise about how there will be a new album coming out they would post an image that quotes “WHO’S NEXT.”

As the days come closer for the artist’s come back they would start a count down and reveal teaser posters and videos on their Facebook page.
Obviously, we could see that YG entertainment takes advantage of the social media as much as possible. These posters and videos causes suspense, interest and expectations for the fans. Moreover, compare to the attention they are able to earn from the audience this way of advertisement is very cost efficient. Thus, many other entertainment companies tries to be effective in social media. However, I would argue that the YG entertainment does this best among the companies in Korea.
The part that intrigued me the most in class is when our professor talked shortly about the success story of Apple. As a huge fan of Apple Macbook Air for several years, I was always quite curious about the behind story of Apple. However, just through several types of research, it made me respect Steve Jobs even more. The fact that Steve Jobs got removed from his own company is already world famous story all around the world. Due to the firm opinion that he had about Macintosh he had a lot of conflicts with other high officials. Thus, causing him to step down from his own company and he gave his power and control to John Sculley. At that time experts do say that John's argument was more reasonable compare to Steve Jobs, however, this caused Steve Jobs to say that this was the most tiring moment of his life. After he was removed from his company he and few of his other workers went to NeXT and surprisingly Steve Jobs did not so bad in that company. On the other hand, by the time it was 1997 STEVEJOBLESS Apple was breaking apart, while their rival companies were flying upon the sky. However, it is true that just like what we learned during class in year 1997 to 2000 dot com companies fell apart including many other companies that involved with technology. Apple ended up buying NeXT and smoothly Steve Jobs regained the power that he had.
As I have said Steve Jobs stated that this whole process was the hardest part of his life! If we look at all this right now I really can't understand what John Sculley (the one who Steve ended up getting fired by) had in mind. However, fast forwarding to the moment Steven Jobs was back in control he immediately launched the product called Ipod. This caused a sensational boom in the market. Ipod was not the only impact that caused such a drastic change in the company. Steve Jobs was passionate about design, future projects and he did not only focus on computers but touched the basis of many other products. Some examples might be the MacBook Air, Iphone and many other products that we are so familiar with. After just two months of being bankrupt, Apple soon became one of the most wealthiest companies in the world. Obviously, now the experts argue that the highest praise should obviously go to Steve Jobs.
Just by looking at the picture above we could see that the accomplishment of Steve Jobs is quite impressive. However, just to state the fact surprisingly Steve Jobs was not directly involved in the technology area. He rather felt comfortable in performing his genius in marketing and design. He focused his designs on making things simpler and concise, however, it never fell short when it came to professionalism. Steve Jobs added more ideas and designs to the fonts and this also helped the company to turn into one of the most successful companies in the world.
Just by looking at the graph we could see the obvious impact and the growth Steve Jobs brought to Apple. Even until now the success story of Steve Jobs and Apple is still a legendary story that there is much more to study about it.
